Vice Minister Zhang Taolin meets CIP Director General

Vice Minister Zhang Taolin met with the visiting Director General of International Potato Center (CIP), Dr. Barbara Wells and her delegation in Beijing on April 10, 2014.


First of all, Zhang, on behalf of MOA,congratulated Dr. Barbara Wells on her assumption of CIP Director General, and appreciated her visit to China soon after taking office.


Then, the two sides exchanged views on the next phase of the establishment of CIP-China Center for the Asia Pacific Region(CCCAP), and accordingly reached a consensus.


Zhang put forward MOA's suggestions on the function design and construction scale of the two CCCAP offices, one in the downtown and the other in the suburb of Beijing. He said that the Chinese side would highly appreciated a prompt reply from CIP for the completion of construction phase at an early date.


Zhang also noted that MOA has attached great importance to the establishment of CCCAP. "CCCAP Leading Group convened several coordination meetings, seeking solutions to emerging problems with other competent authorities. "


In response, Dr. Barbara Wells expressed her appreciations to MOA for its substantial support in the establishment of CCCAP, and reaffirmed CIP's willingness to coordinate and cooperate with MOA in the future.
